On Christmas Day 2021 we lost one of the great ones, Candy Palmater. Candy was all set to come to Vancouver and join us in person for Transform 2020, but when that was not possible, Candy, her wife Denise, Corey and Heather imagined a digital Candy Show. It was filmed in Toronto, without an audience in 2020, which is really hard for a raconteur and funny person, but of course Candy made gold.

She did it again in 2021 with a small house of friends and family. In this compilation of the 2020 and 2021 Candy shows, she brings together the greats, Kent Monkman, Tom Wilson and Buffy Sainte-Marie, and shares her soul with newcomers Keenan Simik Komaksiutiksak and Cameron Munroe Fraser. Candy was an artist, a collaborator, and an inspirational auntie loved by Transform. We are so sad we never had the opportunity to hug her in person. Do yourself a favour after you watch the show and get to know Candy through her book “Running Down a Dream: A Memoir“. We invite you to make a donation to Candy’s favourite organizations, Native Women’s Association of Canada and Wabanaki Two Spirit Alliance. These organizations advocate and offer critical programming to Indigenous communities.
